Open London designed a contemporary extension to a post war house in the Blackheath Conservation Area.

Following extensive consultation with the local authority design and conservation team, previous objections to the proposed scale and impact on the existing house were overcome through the rigorous detailing of the project.

Planning details have been discharged, providing full working drawings to the local authority as a guarantee of the eventual quality required to justify such an approach. The final proposals were unanimously supported, despite the uncompromisingly contemporary design, which doubled the floor area of the existing house.
